Stencil Screenprint
- Jennifer Ghormley
In this fun-filled, hands-on crash course workshop, participants will learn and apply the advantages of screenprinting with hand-cut stencils. Source imagery can come from drawings, photographs, nature, or other sources of inspiration. Emphasis will be on technique, color, range of experimentation, and variety of creative expression possible with the media. In this non-toxic approach, we will be using a thin frosted mylar stencil material and water-based acrylic inks, with no chemicals involved. Participants will gain the experience to teach students how to utilize this process for various applications: fine art prints, posters, greetings cards, t-shirt, or tote bag.

Creating Successful Pastels Using Photographs, in a Studio Setting
- Karen Spotts
Painting "plein air" (outdoors) is always wonderful, creative, and a great learning experience. But some of us need to 'finish' those pieces in the studio, from photographs we've taken. And, many of us don't have the time or desire to set up outdoors, preferring to paint in the comfort and ease of our own homes or studios.
I will demonstrate my way of creating spontaneous and fresh paintings from photographs that I have taken myself, and printed out at home.
The class will begin with a demonstration, and then students will set up their own easels, and begin their own piece. I will circulate among the students, offering comments and suggestions to encourage them to create their own art.
The final half hour or so of class will include a class critique, in which students may show their work and gain comments and (positive) criticism from others.

Cuttlebone Casting
- Amy Bailey
Learn how to cast with cuttlebone. Cuttlebone has a unique texture that can enhance the work. Create a ring, pendant, keychain, bracelet, or parts for soldering. In this process, you will create a two-part mold and pour the metal directly in the cuttlebone. This is an incredibly quick way to design and complete a cast piece. Participants will be able to cast more than once depending on the design.

Mixed Media Collage
-Courtney Cotton
“When printed images are torn, when textures confront, when artifacts are assembled together, when ideas collide, there’s always something grandiose happening, the edification of a new world. It goes way beyond paper and ink, and I like it." Depelteau
In one composition we will repurpose a painting by tearing it into pieces and using it in a new composition with pieces of metal, string or other bits and pieces that work well with the former painting. Please try to bring a painting on paper or canvas you never resolved to this workshop.
If time permits we can also explore sense of humor in collage by using print images.
No materials fee. Materials will be provided but if there are certain catalogues, magazines, or images you like feel free to bring these to make your collage more personal.
